The Steelers had an almost-complete roster of players practicing with no restrictions yesterday. The only player limited yesterday was backup guard Nate Herbig, with a quad injury, and the lone player missing from practice was defensive lineman Cam Heyward, who is on injured reserve recovering from groin surgery.
With a full complement of offensive weapons at his disposal, quarterback Kenny Pickett says the Steelers have used their bye week to get healthy, and it’s helped.
One of the returnees at practice was wide receiver Diontae Johnson, who is excited to be working again with fellow wideout George Pickens and tight end Pat Freiermuth.
Running back Najee Harris says the returns of Johnson and Freiermuth will help George Pickens and the entire offensive unit.
The Steelers officially cut cornerback Desmond King and signed cornerback Darius Rush off the Kansas City practice squad. Rush was taken in the fifth round of the NFL Draft this year by the Colts. He was one of their final cuts and was then signed by the Chiefs. He will contribute mainly on special teams for now.
