The Pirates’ Ke’Bryan Hayes appears to be the favorite to win the National League Gold glove at third base after the Cardinals’ Nolan Arenado did not make the list of finalists, released yesterday Arenado has won it the last ten seasons. Hayes leads the other two candidates, Colorado’s Ryan McMahon and Atlanta’s Austin Riley, in all of the important defensive categories, making only six errors in 365 chances this season, and leading the Majors with 21 Defensive Runs Saved. That’s fourth among all players at any position in the big leagues.
Nineteen Pirates have won Gold Gloves, the most recent being catcher Jacob Stallings in 2019. No Pirates third baseman has ever won the award.

The Texas Rangers seven-game winning streak was snapped last night and the Houston Astros find themselves back in contention in the American League Championship Series. The Astros won Game Three last night, 8-5. Houston now trails the ALCS 2-1. Game Four is in Arlington tonight.
In the National League, the Diamondbacks are looking to climb out of their early hole in the NLCS. They trail the Phillies 2-0 with Game Three tonight in Phoenix.
