As per Act 44 of the Pennsylvania School Code, the Marion Center school board appointed an official security supervisor. The board also voted on a new ‘bee’ logo for consistent use throughout the district, and voted on various personnel items.
In a unanimous vote, Superintendent Clint Weimer was designated as the Marion Center Area School District’s Safety & Security Coordinator. Weimer explained the decision:
“We have our security team — this Act 44 just came down from the school code this year saying that somebody has to be deemed a liaison… So the duties are; establish a safety committee, which we have one of those, and, you gotta report back to the board, basically, on your safety procedures… and biannually, you gotta have a state police contact and inspection.”
In other news, the board approved a new ‘bee’ logo for district-wide use. The official mascot image will be displayed on the high school gym floor come the start of the upcoming school year, as crews will begin sandblasting and painting the floor this week. The logo can be seen below.

On a vote of 7-1-1, the board approved the purchase of new furniture for the high school library in an amount not to exceed $57,113.60.
On items regarding personnel, the board approved the hiring of secondary English/language teachers, an assistant athletic director, and various coaching staff. The board also accepted the resignation of paraprofessional Diana Grove after 18 years of service to the District.
