On Wednesday, the White Township Supervisors met and approved the creation of a new recreation advisory board, along with a set of bylaws.
The new five member board will be able to advise the township supervisors on topics related to the recreation department, including future projects, grant applications and programs. The board will also gather community and professional input to help guide their activities. While they will be able to advise the supervisors, they will not be able to make any motions on their behalf.
The board also approved a set of bylaws for the new recreation advisory board, with one added contingency put in place. The supervisors would need to approve committees for the rec advisory board.
The supervisors also discussed an idea from Dave Dalheimer of Friends of White’s Woods, who asked during public comment if the township supervisors would be interested in acquiring grant money to help pay for either volunteer training or for a goat herd to remove invasive plants from White’s Woods. Township Supervisors Chairman George Lenz said he was on board with the idea of getting grant money.
The issue of liability was also discussed if volunteers were used and trained on techniques from DCNR, and it was mentioned that any volunteers would have to sign a waiver to participate.
The supervisors also got a draft of the agreement with Citizens’ Ambulance Service for the township’s $100,000 contribution. That agreement could be approved at their next meeting on March 24th.
