A status conference is scheduled today for a woman accused of embezzling money from the United Band Boosters.
Court documents show that today’s conference for Lara Lee Brown of Mt. Pleasant will be held in front of President Judge Thomas Bianco. She is charged with theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception, theft by failure to make required disposition of funds and receiving stolen property for the scheme where she stole over $50,000 from the band boosters bank account during her time as treasurer from July of 2019 to December of 2022. The money was raised by 134 students to benefit a trip to Walt Disney World.
A pre-trial conference is set for December 15th. Brown is free on $100,000 bond.
