The District 6 AA basketball championship games are tonight, with three of the four contending teams coming from the Heritage Conference.
In the girls title game, No. 5 United takes on No. 7 Penns Manor. Both teams have fought their way to the championship playing on the road. United beat Homer Center and top-seeded Bishop McCort. Penns Manor toppled No. 2 West Shamokin and No. 3 Southern Huntingdon.
Penns Manor coach Jason Miloser’s team lost to Paul Hall’s Lions twice this season, and he knows his girls have a tall task tonight.
For the boys’ championship. No. 1 West Shamokin will tussle with No. 2 Portage, last year’s championship finalist who returned almost all of their players this season.
Coach Judd McCullough says his boys will have to be ready from the opening tipoff.
The United/Penns Manor girls’ championship game will be on Cat Country 106.3 FM. The West Shamokin/Portage boys’ title game is on 92.5 FM U92. Both games are also on the Trib-Live High School Sports Network: United vs Penns Manor and West Shamokin vs Portage. Pregames begin at 6:40, with tipoff at 7.
