Atlanta was held hitless until the ninth inning in the Pirates’ 10-1 win Tuesday afternoon.
Steven Brault posted another stellar line on the mound, striking out three Braves batters over two innings. Brault, along with some help from the bullpen, held Atlanta hitless until the ninth, where second basemen Ryan Goins singled off Nick Mears.
Offensively, the Pirates commanded the game as they jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, and continued the onslaught throughout the rest of the game.
Catcher Joe Hudson tallied three RBIs on two hits, while infielders Erik Gonzalez and Adam Frazier each went 3-3 at the plate. After today, Frazier’s spring batting average is now .833.
The Pirates now hold a three-game winning streak as they return to Bradenton on Wednesday night to face the New York Yankees. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
