After holding Miami to a 40-36 lead at halftime, Pitt couldn’t mount a comeback in the opening round of the ACC tournament and lost, 79-73.
The Panthers outshot the Hurricanes 47.5 percent from the floor and 41.7 percent from 3-point range. The major thorn in Pitt’s side was Miami converting 22 of 28 free throw attempts, while the Panthers went 5 of 14. Miami also forced Pitt to commit 14 total turnovers, 7 of them coming in the steal category.
Femi Odukale shined for Pitt as he eclipsed 28 points and three assists, while Justin Champegnie tallied 10 total rebounds.
Pitt ends their season on a two-game losing streak and finish with a 10-12 overall record and a 6-10 record in the ACC.
