After beginning the season 1-4, the Pitt Panthers have a new first string quarterback and a fresh start on their season, as they upset 14th-ranked Louisville last night, 38-21.
M.J. Devonshire returned an interception 86 yards for a third-quarter touchdown and Christian Veilleux threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Bub Means in the first half and a 31-yard touchdown pass to Konata Mumpfield in the fourth quarter to lead Pitt. Veilleux completed 12 of 26 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns. C’Bo Flemister’s three-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave Pitt its first lead of the game after the Panthers defense had stopped Louisville on a 4th-and-1 play, leading to a Ben Sauls 46-yard field goal.
Pitt plays at Wake Forest next Saturday afternoon.
