The Penguins play Game Two of a two-game set against the New York Rangers tonight and close out a five-game homestand during which they’ve won three out of four games.
Coach Mike Sullivan says he likes the Penguins’ momentum.
Sullivan says the return of defenseman Brian Dumoulin from the injured list has made a big difference, even if it doesn’t always show on the stat sheet.
The coach says Kasperi Kapanen continues to assert himself as a force on the Penguins, especially since the two of them sat down for a talk a couple of weeks ago. Since that time, Kapanen has nine points in eight games.
The Penguins have placed forward Colton Sceviour on waivers. Sceviour has only two points this season and hasn’t scored since January. He hasn’t played in three games and was on the covid-19 protocol list over the weekend.
Newly-acquired defenseman Mark Friedman was placed on the injured list retroactive to last Thursday, when he suffered an upper body injury against the Flyers. There’s no word on the availability of forward Jared McCann, who was injured Sunday night.
Tonight’s game has a 6 o’clock faceoff, so the pregame begins at 5:00 on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel.
