GIRLS SOCCER
Indiana routed Obama Academy, 7-0, as Sophie Scardina scored twice. Ella Myers, Mae Turner, Sydney Anderson, and Bella Antonacci also scored for Indiana.
BOYS SOCCER
Indiana clinched a WPIAL Section playoff spot with a 5-1 win over Kiski Area.
United knocked off Northern Cambria, 5-0, as Carter Payne scored the hat trick and Gideon Bracken added two goals. Payne added an assist and Bracken had two. Sean Beach also had an assist. In goal, Jackson Wirick made five saves and Maverick Zack made two in the shared shutout.
HOCKEY
Indiana trailed 3-1 after one period, but roared back with the final four goals, three of them in the third period, to down Butler, 5-3. Ash Lockard had the hat trick, scoring in the first period, netting the game-tying goal on the power play in the third, and getting the insurance goal to close out the scoring. Indiana surged ahead on Garrett Goodrich’s goal at 10:23 of the third. Landin Wilson scored with the man advantage for Indiana in the second period. Luke Rowe stopped 20 of 23 shots on goal for the win.
TENNIS
Indiana’s girls couldn’t hold off Hampton yesterday at the White Township Recreation Center courts. The Talbots won the WPIAL quarterfinal match, 4-1. Indiana’s lone win was Eve Kuzneski’s, at number three singles.
GOLF
The Indiana boys season came to a close with a 6th place finish in the WPIAL Team Final yesterday at Cedarbrook Gold in Belle Vernon. Indiana shot 402, led by Trevor Todd, Harrison Martineau, and Ryan Bell, who each shot 75. Ash Lockard shot an 85 (and then hustled back to Indiana for his hockey game). Caden Force shot 92 and Phil Bell 93. The big highlight for Indiana was Ryan Bell’s eagle two from 180 yards out on the par four 16th.
Peters Township won the triple-A title with a 371. Butler was second at 378.
VOLLEYBALL
Indiana crushed Highlands, 3-0, with all three games having identical 25-15 scores. Taylor Wood had 9 kills and 3 blocks. Stella Stossel had 9 kills and 3 digs. Hannah Cowburn had 30 assists and 3 kills. Alex Ball had 14 digs and 3 aces.
Indiana also won the JV game in straight sets.
West Shamokin continued its roll in the Heritage Conference, topping Homer-Center, 3-0, and avenging a loss earlier this season. The Wolves have lost twice this year, in back-to-back games against Marion Center and Homer-Center, but have reversed both of those results in back-to-back games this week.
Marion Center beat Penns Manor, 3-0.
