IUP has announced plans to celebrate International Education Week next week.
As part of the week-long celebration, there will be a naturalization program that will be held on Friday, October 20th at 11 AM at the KCAC’s Toretti Auditorium. The ceremony will be conducted by the US Customs and Immigration Service. Other events on the week of the 16th to the 20th include a cultural fair and lunch from noon to 1 on Monday, a poetry night Tuesday at Elkin Hall’s great room, a SkillZone open house on Thursday and a screening of the documentary film “The Ants and the Grasshopper” at Leonard Hall Thursday night.
The complete schedule of events is below. All events are free and open to the public.
- Oct. 16 — International Lunch and Cultural Fair, noon to 1 p.m., Sutton Hall Blue Room (first floor of Sutton Hall). Lunch will be provided. Posters created by education abroad students will be on display.
- Oct. 17 — International Poetry Night, 7 p.m., Elkin Hall Great Room. Poems will be shared in the original language and in English.
- Oct. 18 — Education Abroad Fair, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Jane E. Leonard Hall Atrium. This event will include presentations by faculty and students about their experience doing international research and study abroad, followed by an expo offering information about study abroad opportunities at IUP, including Crimson Exchanges, faculty-led programs, and third-party provider options.
- Oct. 19 — SkillZone Open House, 3 to 5 p.m., B25 Delaney Hall. SkillZone is a free drop-in center for all IUP international students and scholars providing support for their classes and to develop academic skills for success.
- Oct. 19 – screening of the documentary film The Ants & The Grasshopper, 6 to 8 p.m., B-10 Jane E. Leonard Hall. The screening is co-sponsored by Office of International Education, Sustainability Studies at IUP, and IUP’s Pan-African Studies program.
- Oct. 20 — naturalization ceremony, 11 a.m., Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex Toretti Auditorium. The United States Customs and Immigration Service (USCIS) is holding a citizenship ceremony at IUP
