A Republican who ran for Lieutenant Governor back in 2018 has announced he is running for U.S. Senate.
Philadelphia-based real estate investor Jeff Bartos made it official on his Twitter account and campaign website earlier today. In 2017, he started to run for the U.S. Senate, but switched to the Lt. Governor’s race after then-U.S. Representative Lou Barletta joined the field with the backing of President Donald Trump. He is also a longtime fundraiser for the Pennsylvania Republican Party.
Bartos is joining a wide-open field for the seat of Senator Pat Toomey, who announced last October that he would not run for reelection. Also in the running is Sean Gale, the brother of Montgomery County Commissioner Joe Gale who is running for Governor. Lt. Governor John Fetterman and state representative Malcolm Kenyatta of Philadelphia are running for the Democratic Party’s nomination.
