The Chronicle of Higher Education’s annual report on the top-earning executives at public universities for fiscal 2017 is out, and it shows IUP President Michael Driscoll with the fifth- highest compensation package in the state, behind the presidents of Penn State, Pitt, and Temple, and the former State System chancellor.
Driscoll ranks 197th in the nation among public school educators, with a total compensation package of $319,437. He has been at IUP since 2012. Among his most recent efforts has been leading the working group on tuition pricing strategies for the State System redesign.
Penn State’s Eric Barron, at nearly $1.4 million, ranks 11th in the nation. Pitt Chancellor Patrick Gallagher in second in the state in total compensation, at more than $536,000, followed by Temple University’s Richard Englert, and former State System Chancellor Frank Brogan.
The figures were compiled using base and bonus pay, deferred compensation, and severance and retirement pay.
