The Indiana Area and Purchase Line school boards both meet tonight, and both boards will tackle a similar issue: Improving internet access.
The Indiana Area board will consider a motion to purchase 85 wireless access points at a cost of more than $34,000. While the Purchase Line board has not yet published its agenda, last week’s work session included a proposal to purchase 20 wireless access points at a cost of more than $13,000.
Indiana’s school board will also consider a number of personnel items, some educational agreements, calendar adjustments, and tax collector compensation.
At Purchase Line’s work session last week, the board took up the ARIN Intermediate Unit operating budget, of which the school district would be responsible for more than $25,000; a telephone system upgrade; the creation and equipping of an elementary STEAM education room; next school year’s calendar; and the formation of the Red Dragon Cyber Academy, which would begin operating this coming fall for students who wish to pursue remote learning.
