The body of a recent Ligonier Valley High School Graduate was recovered yesterday after six days of intense searching in the Quemahoning Reservoir.
The body of Joey Dubics was found around 1:00 PM on Saturday near the bottom of the reservoir in the area of a dam. Search teams had to rely on using remote-controlled submersible devices to locate the body of Dubics and once it was found, divers went down the 74 feet to recover it.
Authorities say that Dubics was paddleboarding with his friends at the reservoir when he dropped his hat and sunglasses. He dove in the water to retrieve them, and came up for air once, but after diving a second time, he did not return to the surface.
Dubics, who lived in Seward, was a former running back and captain of the Ligonier Valley Rams football team, and was planning on attending IUP in the fall. His coach, Roger Beitel, talked about the fact that he truly earned captain status.

The Quemahoning Family Recreation Area has been closed since the incident, and is expected to re-open on Monday.
