The Penguins were able to rebound from Thursday’s loss against Philadelphia by beating them in Saturday’s rubber match, 4-3, and giving them the series win.
The Flyers held Pittsburgh in check throughout the opening minutes of the game, however two Power Play goals by Evgeni Malkin and Bryan Rust put the Pens out in front, 2-1, heading into the first intermission.
Philadelphia would take the lead in the second period, but Brandon Tanev would set Zach Aston-Reese up for his fourth goal on the season. The goal came with 2:10 remaining in the frame and would ultimately send the game into the third period tied at 3.
Jared McCann would provide the go-ahead goal halfway through the third period, his fifth on the season, and Tristan Jarry would shutout the Flyers the rest of the way.
With the win, the Penguins move to 13-9-1 on the season and they return to the ice Sunday night to take on the New York Rangers at 7:30 p.m.. Airtime on U92.5 FM and on U92radio.com is 5:30 p.m.
