The Steelers are in the midst of their bye week but they did practice yesterday. The players will have the next five days off, but some of them will be remaining in Pittsburgh rather than going to their homes or taking a vacation. One of them is Diontae Johnson, who yesterday said he will be ready to play on October 22nd against the Rams. He’s been out since the first game of the season when he injured his hamstring.
Quarterback Kenny Pickett says Johnson’s return will be most welcome.
Pronouncing himself “100 percent,” Johnson credited the Steelers training staff with getting him ready to go and said he will be staying in Pittsburgh to keep working with them during the break.
The Steelers played last week without Johnson, tight end Pat Freiermuth, tackle Dan Moore, and guard James Daniels on the offense. Johnson says the offense will be much better if the injured starters return.
Wide receiver Calvin Austin III says he has been cleared out of concussion protocol and is ready to return to the field.
