Governor Wolf’s announcement yesterday on the easing of attendance restrictions for pro sports included the Pirates, who will be able to host 20 percent of the capacity at PNC Park. With a seating capacity of 38,362, that would allow 7,672 people at the stadium when the Pirates open the home portion of their schedule on April 8th against the Cubs. However, that number includes everyone in the ballpark, including the teams and team and stadium personnel. The Pirates are still working out a formula for how many fans will be allowed in.
In Dunedin, Florida yesterday, Mitch Keller surrendered both Toronto runs in the first inning in a 2-2 tie. Keller had trouble finding the strike zone in his first outing of the spring. The Bucs got a second-inning 413-foot homer off the bat of Anthony Alford and an RBI single in the third by Phillip Evans.
