Thursday night was the first night of activities connected with IUP’s annual Homecoming celebrations and as anticipated, things were quiet.
No major incidents were reported by state or borough police on Thursday night so far. Increased police presences are expected this weekend, according to Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl. He said that as far as police coverage goes, it will be what is expected for Homecoming weekend.
This includes the use of K-9 officers and the State Police Mounted Unit. People are reminded that taunting, tormenting, teasing, beating, kicking or striking a police animal is considered a third-degree felony.
The main activities of Homecoming Weekend will take place tomorrow with the annual parade on Philadelphia Street starting at 10 AM and the homecoming football game at 2 PM. We’ll have coverage of the Homecoming Parade starting around 10:00 AM on Renda Digital TV and coverage of the football game on U-92.5 FM and u92radio.com at 1:30 with the pre-game show.
