In a joint statement from the State Capitol, Senator Don White and Representatives Dave Reed and Chris Dush have announced the renaming of four Indiana County bridges in honor of service members who were killed in action.
The bridge over Mahoning Creek in Grant and Canoe townships will be renamed the “Army SPC Christine L. Mayes Memorial Bridge” in honor of the Rochester Mills native and Marion Center High Schol graduate, who died in a February 1991 scud missile attack in Saudi Arabia.
The bridge over the South branch of Cush Creek in Montgomery Township will be renamed the “SPC Edward John Parada Memorial Bridge”, after the Montgomery Township native and Purchase Line High School graduate killed in action in Vietnam in August of 1970.
The Route 286 bridge over Two Lick Creek in Clymer will be renamed the “Corporal Louis R. Tate Memorial Bridge”, to honor the memory of the Arcadia native and Clymer High School graduate who died in the Battle of the Bulge in February of 1945.
And finally, another Route 286 bridge over Two Lick Creek will be renamed the “Lance Corporal Joshua T. Twigg Memorial Bridge”, honoring the memory of the Clymer native and Penns Manor High School graduate who was killed in action in Afghanistan in September of 2010.
