Members of the Indiana Area Collaborative Team met Wednesday afternoon to discuss preparations for the annual IUP Homecoming celebration this weekend.
Representatives from various stakeholder groups met at the KCAC to update the public on safety precautions and events over the next few days. Among them was IUP Director of Public Safety and University Police Timothy Stringer, who prepares for his first Homecoming Weekend. He said there is some pressure on him but he feels ready for the challenge.
Stringer also referenced a recent article from The Wall Street Journal which ranked IUP as a Top Party School in the U.S. He said several factors went into the list and IUP is nowhere near the “party school” it used to be.
Along with IUP, members of the Pennsylvania State Police and Indiana Borough Police Department will increase their presence over the weekend. That includes the K-9 and mounted units.
I-ACT Media Representative Michelle Fryling also said media reports will be distributed Saturday and Sunday mornings this year, rather than the entire weekend.
Homecoming events kick off Thursday night. You can view a full list by clicking here.
