Mike Tomlin will hold his weekly news conference today and the status of quarterback Kenny Pickett will be near the top of his list.
Pickett went down with a left knee injury in the loss to Houston on Sunday. Pickett was walking without a limp and without a brace or sleeve yesterday as the team assembled for an afternoon meeting. The NFL Network reported that Pickett has a bone bruise and muscle strain, but Tomlin will be expected to have more clarity today.
The Steelers yesterday waived wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick, who will likely be signed to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
After Sunday’s blowout loss to the Texans, Tomlin promised there will be changes this week, not indicating whether they will be changes to personnel, schemes, or – as fans are increasingly demanding – the coaching staff, particularly offensive coordinator Matt Canada.
