On last night’s edition of Hawk Talk on Renda Digital TV and U92 radio, IUP football coach Paul Tortorella said his team will have to learn from Saturday’s loss to Slippery Rock and then put it behind them as they prepare to take on Cal U in the Homecoming Coal Bowl game this week.
Tortorella said it was clear that some of IUP’s players were not ready for the atmosphere Saturday night and after Slippery Rock started quickly, IUP “made it easy for them.” He said he was more disappointed in his defense than he was in his offense, but overall, the entire team fell short…offense, defense, special teams, and coaching.
Tortorella says IUP has work to do to bounce back from the loss.
Cal U will come into Saturday’s game at Miller Stadium at 3-1. Tortorella says they’re very good, and like Slippery Rock, very athletic.
Slippery Rock moved up to number ten in this week’s AFCA Division Two coaches poll. IUP is unranked.
