The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board meets tonight, with an extensive agenda covering a number of topics.
One of the items is the ARIN Intermediate Unit’s $3.4 million budget. Blairsville-Saltsburg’s share would be $57,321.
The board will also consider a motion to offer an early retirement incentive for qualified professional employees who are members of the Blairsville-Saltsburg Education Association. Employees would have until April 16th to notify the district of an intent to take the incentive. In order for it to take effect, there must be a minimum of eight retirements this year, with differing numbers for subsequent years, through 2024-25.
Other actions by the board will include a motion to approve the “Blairsville-Saltsburg Middle-High School Media Center,” at a cost of no more than $334,461, and a café within the center; funding for several educational agreements; and a list of supplemental hires, including Glenn Richards as Saltsburg baseball coach, Mark Palmer as Blairsville baseball coach, and several track & field coaches.
The following is a WCCS Editorial with Renda Media Vice President & General Manager Mark Bertig regarding the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District’s latest proposal to consolidate Saltsburg Jr. Sr. High School into Blairsville Jr. Sr. High School.
