PennDOT yesterday issued a host of releases detailing traffic restrictions coming soon for projects across the five counties covered by the District 10 Regional Office. Five of those releases involve projects in Indiana County, and some serve simply as reminders of ongoing work.
That includes the Wayne Avenue resurfacing project between Locust Street in Indiana Borough and Carter Avenue in White Township, which features daily single-lane restrictions controlled by flaggers. There will be a weekend closure of Wayne Avenue later in the $440,328 project, which is scheduled for completion in August.
There is also a reminder for motorists that nighttime flagging operations began last night and are scheduled for tonight and tomorrow night as well on Route 119 in Homer City and Center Township, between Route 56 and the Sheetz store. Crews will be setting beams in place on the Three Bridges Project. The restrictions will happen between 8 PM and 6 AM the following day, and if it’s raining tonight, they will delay by a day.
Route 954 between Fulton Lane and Creekside Road in White Township will be closed for railroad crossing work this Friday at 6 AM, and lasting through Saturday at 10 PM. Five Points Road in Armstrong Township will be closed for railroad crossing work just south of Creekside Road, near Shelocta, starting July 7th. It should only take a day to get that work done.
Finally, PennDOT says the Route 286 Culvert Replacement Projects in Banks, Green, and Montgomery townships will get underway next month. Three bridges will be replaced by box culverts, and the highway will remain open, but with temporary signals controlling the flow of traffic. Completion of the $2.5 million project is expected to come in the late fall of this year.
