Coach Mike Tomlin says the Steelers are getting better, but so is everybody else in the NFL. At his weekly news conference, Tomlin said he is seeing progress in key areas, not the least of which is the ability to adapt after key injuries to Diontae Johnson and Cam Heyward.
The coach said all areas of the team, offense, defense, special teams, and the injuries, are ripe for improvement.
Tomlin says this week’s opponent, the Houston Texans, are coming on in their first season under the leadership of coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback CJ Stroud.
TJ Watt had two more sacks for the Steelers and leads the NFL in that category. Tomlin said Watt works hard at his craft, and it starts in the video room.
Tomlin’s injury update included guard James Daniels, with a groin injury; wide receiver Allen Robinson, who has a minor ankle injury; and punter Pressley Harvin, with a tight hamstring. All could be limited “early in the week”, according to the coach.
