A day after a history-making comeback, the Pirates couldn’t keep it rolling Sunday against the Reds. Greg Brown has the story.
The Pirates are off today before starting the final week of the season with three games in Philadelphia. They’ll return to Pittsburgh on Friday for a weekend series against the Marlins.
Indianapolis ended its season yesterday with a 5-1 win over Rochester. Ryan Vilade was 4-for-4, Joe Perez hit a home run, and Vinny Capra and Josh Bisonette each had two hits.
The combined records of the Pirates’ seven minor league affiliates, including the short-season clubs, was 371-330. Of the four full-season teams, Low-A Bradenton had the best season, going 76-54. Bradenton, Greensboro, Altoona, and Indianapolis finished a combined 281-261.
