The Penguins split their squad for a home-and-away Sunday against the Blue Jackets, and they split the two games, winning in the afternoon in Pittsburgh, 3-2 in a shootout and losing in the evening, 4-3 in overtime in Columbus.
2023 first round draft choice Brayden Yager and forward Alex Nylander scored in the shootout at PPG Paints Arena. Nylander also scored in the first period as did defenseman P.O. Joseph.
In the night game in Columbus, the Penguins got goals from Jonathan Gruden, 2019 first round pick Sam Poulin, and Austin Wagner.
Poulin says he is concentrating on getting better every day during training camp.
Yager is enjoying his first pro training camp and soaking up every bit of the experience of being around the Penguins’ superstar veterans.
The Penguins’ players get the day off today. They are back in action for a preseason game in Detroit.
