At their meeting Thursday night, the Homer Center School Board heard some concerns from the district’s high school principal about students failing in classes.
Principal Jody Rainey told the board that there are a few more students who are failing classes this year than last year at this time. Rainey said that the numbers are not at the extremes as of yet.
In other business, the board did have to deal with being “zoom-bombed” during the early part of the meeting. During a presentation for the Elementary Wildcat Student Recognition, several new meeting participants showed up at once and started saying rude things. The meeting was disrupted for several minutes as the meeting room was shut down so the trouble makers could be removed and the meeting could re-start. Superintendent Curtis Whitesel said that they are already looking for solutions to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
The board also approved the ARIN 2021-2022 general operating budget, which comes to $3,427,394. Homer-Center’s share of the budget comes to $27,418, which represents no change from last year.
