A man charged with dragging a state trooper with his car will be in Indiana County Court today to withdraw his guilty plea.
Court documents show that 30-year-old Matthew Allen Rebar will go before County Judge Michael Clark today to revoke his pleas to charges of aggravated assault, fleeing or eluding police, DUI-controlled substance, possession of marijuana and of drug paraphernalia, reckless and careless driving and driving on a suspended license.
The charges were filed in connection with an incident on February 25th of 2022, when state police confronted him in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Maple Street. Troopers were contacted by a woman saying that she and Rebar were involved in a dispute and he was on his way over to confront her. Troopers found him in his car with the engine running, and when a trooper approached him and asked him through the open window to stop the car and get out, Rebar allegedly put the car in gear and started to drive away, dragging the trooper for about 30 feet. The trooper eventually fell away from the car and suffered a minor injury.
Rebar had initially entered his guilty pleas in June of this year.
The only other event on the docket for Indiana County’s courts today is a sentencing hearing for 44-year-old Jennifer Paula Hickman of Johnstown, who pleaded guilty to a single count of receiving stolen property for a case that goes back to October 26th of 2020.
