The Penns Manor School Board last night adopted a budget for the new school year, including a .47 mill property tax increase that is projected to generate $136,985 in new revenue. To balance the $17,439,317 spending plan, the district will also tap $83,983 from its fund balance.
The ICTC operating budget was also approved last night. Penns Manor’s share of ICTC funding will increase by $31,626.
The board also filled a number of vacant positions in preparation for the start of the school year, including hiring girls’ basketball coach Jason Miloser to replace Mike Reilly as athletic director. Reilly will retire on June 30th but was hired last night to serve as Miloser’s mentor for one year.
The new boys’ basketball coach will be Indiana High School graduate Andrew Lansberry. Other personnel moves include the hiring of Elizabeth Smego as an elementary teacher, Olivia Anna as a reading specialist, Joellen Nelson as silks advisor, and Jennifer Belleau as the majorette advisor.
Ron Saffron was retained as the district solicitor, and the board accepted with regret the resignation of board member Joette Dudeck, who is leaving after more than twenty years as a school board member.
