The Governor’s Civic Engagement Award has completed its first year, and yesterday the Acting Secretary of State announced that fifteen high schools attained Gold Level awards, meaning at least 85 percent of their eligible students have become registered voters. As we reported to you last December, Purchase Line High School became the second school in the entire state to earn the distinction.
The Governor’s Civic Engagement Award program is a cooperative effort of the Departments of Education and State, in collaboration with the non-profit “Inspire U.S.”
At the time of Purchase Line’s recognition, then-Superintendent Joseph Bradley said the award “reflects long-standing practices” within the district, embodying its mission to “Pursue Lifetime Success and Development.”
Derry Area High School also earned a gold medal.
