It is Ash Wednesday, the start of the season of Lent for Christians, which will culminate in the celebration of Easter. This year, the churches of the Catholic Diocese of Greensburg will be marking the occasion differently than they usually do, due to covid-19.
Father William Lechnar explains the new procedure, which isn’t exactly new.
Bishop Larry J. Kulick will conduct a livestreamed Mass at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg at 11:45 AM. It can be viewed at www.dioceseofgreensburg.org and at the diocesan Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Mass times for the area churches are:
- St. Bernard of Clairvaux in Indiana at 7:30 AM.
- St. Thomas More University in Indiana at 12:10 and 7 PM.
- Church of the Good Shepherd in Kent at 7 AM and 9 AM.
- Holy Family Parish in Seward- Liturgy of the Word at 9 AM and Mass at 7 PM.
- St. Matthew of Saltsburg at 6 PM.
- Simon & Jude in Blairsville at 8 AM and 7 PM.
- Church of the Resurrection, northern Indiana County – Masses at 9 AM (Heilwood), 10:30 AM (Glen Campbell), 5 PM (Rossiter) and 7 PM. (Clymer). Also Services at noon (Clymer) and 6 PM (Ernest).
