The slow walk toward trials for the two men accused of murdering a Cherryhill Township couple in 2016 takes another step today, with a motions hearing scheduled for 20-year-old Justin Stevenson.
Judge Thomas Bianco will conduct the hearing. Attorney David Shrager has asked the court to suppress a search warrant for Stevenson’s cell phone records, while Assistant District Attorney Gina Ryen Force has asserted that there is no legal standing for the challenge to the warrant.
Stevenson and 19-year-old Nathan Price are charged with killing Timothy Gardner and Jacqueline Brink during a drug deal at the couple’s home outside of Clymer. They’re accused of plotting to rob Gardner, but instead beating him to death, and killing Brink because she was a witness. Two young children who were asleep in the apartment were unharmed. A third suspect, Isaiah Scott, was originally charged as an adult, but his case was transferred to juvenile court.
Judge Bianco previously granted Stevenson’s request to sever his case from Price’s. He has also imposed a gag order on all persons related to the case. No trial date has been set yet for either Stevenson or Price.
