Among the preliminary hearings scheduled today in Indiana County’s Magisterial District Courts are proceedings involving 29-year-old Kadeem Meggett of Indiana and 38-year-old Garrett Hagerman of Penn Run.
Meggett is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, two counts of disorderly conduct, and recklessly endangering another person for an incident May 13th in the 200 block of School Street. Police were summoned for a report of a toddler wandering the street alone and found Meggett’s daughter, wet and barefoot. Meggett was located and came to the scene, where police say he was hostile to them, and when he tried to walk away with the girl, he began to scold her, “viciously yelling at her and vigorously (shaking) her body while holding her in the air.” He then resisted police as they took him into custody.
Hagerman is charged with strangulation, simple assault, and harassment. He’s accused of getting into a fight with a 25-year-old man April 21st in the parking lot outside of a bar in Green Township. Police say he punched the victim multiple times in the face and – in their words – “choked him out”.
Hagerman is due before District Judge Chris Welch at 9 o’clock this morning. Meggett is due before Judge Welch at 2:30 this afternoon.
