In U.S. District Court in Erie on Friday, 49-year-old Chad Bednarski of Erie was sentenced to 32 months in jail, ordered to pay $1.6 million in restitution, and pay a $1,000 fine for his role in his boss’s scheme to defraud Indiana-based S&T Bank and others of almost $2 million.
Bednarski was the finance manager of Lakeside Chevrolet, and between January of 2015 and January of 2019, he and the dealership’s owner, Andrew Gabler, swindled the bank of about $1.88 million. Some of the losses were recovered when Lakeside and another dealership owned by Gabler were liquidated.
Gabler was sentenced on Thursday 51 months in prison, a fine of $5,000, and restitution of almost $1.7 million. He and Bednarski were indicted by a federal grand jury in 2019 on seventeen criminal counts, which they pled down to single counts of conspiracy to bank and wire fraud.
