The Steelers yesterday put defensive lineman Cam Heyward on injured reserve. He had groin surgery. Heyward could miss about eight weeks.
The team promoted wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick from the practice squad to the active roster to replace wide receiver Diontae Johnson, who has an injured hamstring but has not been placed on injured reserve for now.
Defensive back Luq Barcoo and running back Greg Bell were brought back to the practice squad after being released earlier in the week. Safety Josiah Scott was sent to the practice squad injured list and cornerback Anthony Brown was released.
Running back Anthony McFarland missed practice with a knee injury. Offensive linemen Chuks Okorafor and James Daniels were limited, along with tight end Pat Freiermuth and defensive lineman Larry Ogunjobi.
