More information has been released concerning grant money for hospitality-based businesses that the county applied for earlier this week.
On Wednesday, the commissioners approved applying for the County’s share of money through Act 1 of 2021 under an initiative known as the Covid-19 Hospitality Industry Recovery Program or CHIRP. This requires counties to establish a grant program for businesses in the hospitality industry that were negatively impacted by the Covid-19 Pandemic. Grants range from $5000 to $50,000. There are some qualifications, which include that grant money cannot be used to pay the same eligible operating expenses for which a business has received payment, reimbursement or loan forgiveness from CARES act funding, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, or the Covid-19 emergency supplement to the general appropriations act of 2019. But if you have received a grant or loan from either the federal or state government, it will not disqualify you from receiving CHIRP funding.
Applications will be released no later than March 15th. Anyone with questions on the grant can email send an email to CHIRP@Indianacountypa.gov. All emails must include a first and last name, the name of the business, and daytime contact information.
