On Thursday night, the Penns Manor School Board paid tribute to the late board vice-president Ronald Beilchick, who passed away on January 27th.
Board President Robert Packer said that Beilchick served 21 years on the Penns Manor board, and was also the longtime budget and finance chairman. He said that he helped put the district in a good financial position but kept his focus on the students and their education, and was also someone who attended many district events.
Later in the meeting, the board appointed Tammy Dalton to fill Beilchick’s seat as the Region 3 representative. The board also voted unanimously to appoint John Hardesty as the new board vice president.
In other business, the board approved their portion of the ARIN IU 2021-2022 budget. Penns Manor’s share is $22,643, which represents an increase of $128. While the ARIN budget is not increasing, the increase for Penns Manor was due to enrollment and how it is calculated, according to district superintendent Daren Johnston.
The board also approved a quote for Cannon Boiler Works to perform maintenance on the boilers at a cost of $6,635.
