Saltsburg’s annual Canal Days kicked off yesterday, and activities are planned for the rest of the day today.
Activities get underway at 9:00 this morning, with the herb society herb and garden sale behind the stone house museum. Opening Ceremonies and a flag retirement ceremony will be held today at 10:00. The annual fireman’s parade starts at noon today. At 3:00 there will be a K-9 Demonstration from Homer City Police Chief Anthony Jellison and his partner Thor. Also at 3:00 today is the first of two karaoke contests, with this one being for participants under the age of 18. Those over 18 can take part in their own contest at 6:00.
There will be live music throughout the day as well, with DJ Jammin Jim productions providing music throughout the morning, and at 1:00, Gerald McGrew, Jr. will perform. The Woods Family Band will take the stage at 4:00, and at 7:00, Doppler effect will perform. Their performance will be followed by a Fireworks show starting at 10:00 tonight.
