Paving will begin on Monday in Downtown Indiana, and parking spaces are already being shut down for the efforts.
Dave Fairman of Indiana Borough’s Public Works said that starting today, they are starting to mark off meters in each of the zones for this year’s road paving schedule, with equipment and crews coming in to work on Monday, which is when the meters will be shut off. Fairman said that the schedule is starting earlier than normal, but that was due to when Indiana School District let out for the year. This year’s classes ended earlier than normal, and Fairman said that the reasoning behind it was that he didn’t want the paving schedules to interfere with bus routes.
The schedule of work includes portions of 12th , 11th and 10th streets, along with Station Avene, Church Street and Oak Street. Fairman said the paving work should last a week, weather permitting.
