During their meeting Wednesday afternoon, The White Township Supervisors discussed changing the procedures for executive session.
Executive sessions are allowed under the PA Sunshine Act for various reasons, but the supervisors have had to make some adjustments due to the fact that they are using conference calls and virtual meeting platforms to hold their meetings, according to township manager Milt Lady.
One of the main sticking points is that some supervisors want to see the alterations go away after people are allowed to return for public meetings, but others want the changes to remain in place. The issue will continue to be discussed at their next meeting.
In other business, the board tabled making appointments to vacancies on the township’s planning commission and comprehensive planning committee. Normally when multiple candidates are presented for a vacancy, the vote is held by secret ballot among the supervisors. Supervisor Sandy Gillette has not been able to attend in person as of late, so the votes were tabled until she is able to be there in person.
The board also received a letter from PennDOT concerning two traffic studies concerning speeding on 6th Street. One was for a stretch between Hospital Road and Indian Springs Road and the other was for Indian Springs Road to the Bypass Interchange. PennDOT felt that there was no need to reduce the speed limit in that area.
The supervisors will next meet on February 24th at 7:30 PM
