An Indiana teenager is now in custody for an incident at last night’s Indiana High football game.
Indiana School District officials confirmed that Andy Kuzneski Field at 5th Street Stadium was locked down as police responded to a report of an individual potentially having a weapon at the game. Borough Police said that the suspect, identified as a 17-year-old Indiana juvenile, was taken into custody around 8:30 PM after students reported to school officials that they saw the suspect along the outside of the football field fence with what looked like a gun and a knife and making threats. He ran from the police, resulting in a search of nearby backyards and high brush areas, but the suspect was eventually apprehended. A backpack was also recovered, and it contained two knives and a stun gun.
The suspect’s name was not released as he is still considered a juvenile, but he was charged with terroristic threats, possessing a weapon on school property, prohibited offensive weapons, use or possession of an electronic incapacitation device, trespassing and disorderly conduct. Authorities say there is no active threat to the community, and they credit the students with coming forward and reporting the individual.
