Coach Jeff Capel will be without one of his top freshman after it was announced that Papa Amadou Kante will miss the 2023-24 season after suffering a non-contact knee injury Wednesday evening.
Capel called the injury a quote, “minor setback for a young man with a great future in our program.” He adds that Amadou Kante will “attack the rehab and recovery process” and he commended the efforts of Pitt’s medical and athletic training staff.
The former four-star prospect and Top 100 recruit helped lead South Kent to a regular season and Class AAA championship last season.
Pitt basketball opens its season Nov. 6 against North Carolina A&T.
