Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett was expecting Nick Bosa to play for the 49ers in the season opener, and it looks like he was right. Bosa ended his holdout and agreed to a five-year $170 million contract yesterday, and even though he missed all of training camp, the NFL Defensive Player of the year will probably suit up on Sunday.
Pickett says the Steelers have taken advantage of the ten-day layoff after the final preseason game last Thursday.
The newly-elected Steelers offensive captain said before Bosa’s new contract was announced that they were preparing as if the star defensive end would play.
Pickett says the 49ers, like most teams, are skilled at disguising their defenses, and that makes them even more formidable.
At practice yesterday, defensive end Larry Ogunjobi was the only Steeler who was limited by injury. He’s still recovering from a foot injury but will be ready to play on Sunday. Cam Heyward also was limited, but that’s normal on a Wednesday for the veteran.
The 49ers injury report was more extensive, with seven players reported as limited, including All-Pro tight end George Kittle and former Steeler Ray-Ray McCloud.
