Officials with White Township are celebrating new features along one of the township’s roads.
According to a news release, Saltsburg Avenue from Rose Street to Rustic Lodge Road was recently resurfaced and crosswalk markings were applied between the Indiana County Transit Authority bus center and the employee parking lot.
Along with those changes, PennDOT has included “sharrows” or bicycle lane markers from end to end along the stretch of road.
Officials say these upgrades indicate the start of a comprehensive list of more than a dozen upcoming projects across White Township. One being the marking of traffic/pedestrian control features along Route 286 near Airport and Ober Road, Ben Franklin Road at Lowe’s, and portions of Philadelphia Street. That will be funded by a grant of more than $80,000 through the Local Share Account program through the PA Department of Community and Economic Development.
