There are several Memorial Day observances around Indiana County today, including Indiana Borough’s service, scheduled for 10:30 AM at Memorial Park. Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock will be master of ceremonies. You are encouraged to arrive early and bring a lawn chair.
Blairsville’s Memorial Day parade begins at 10:30 this morning, marching off from the bandstand area on West Market Street to the Blairsville Cemetery Veterans’ Circle. The program at the cemetery will feature Navy veteran Marcie Evanko San Miguel, a Blairsville High grad and veteran of the First Persian Gulf War.
The Memorial Day observance also includes the traditional parades in Plumville at 11 AM, and in Marion Center at 1 PM, with both parades featuring the Marion Center High School band.
And there’s a footrace planned today as part of Memorial Day observances in Clymer. The “Move It! Memorial Day 5K Run/Walk” begins at 9 AM from the Sherman Street Park, with proceeds from the race benefitting veterans.
