Week Two of the high school football season kicks off tonight with four games on our Renda stations.
On WDAD and Renda Digital TV, 1-0 Indiana travels to 1-0 Knoch. Indiana coach Brad Wright is wary of the Knoch passing game.
Wright says Indiana needs to play a cleaner game this week than in last week’s win over Freeport.
On WCCS and Renda Digital TV, 1-0 Homer-Center tackles 0-1 Penns Manor in the Wildcats’ home opener. Homer-Center coach Greg Page says big plays can make a difference and turn a tight game into a lopsided one, so don’t read too much into Penns Manor’s loss to West Shamokin.
Page says you can’t commit penalties and make mistakes against Penns Manor.
Comets coach Bill Packer says his team has to improve on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
Packer is impressed with Wildcats quarterback Angelo Alexander and the Homer-Center receiving corps.
On U92, there’s been a switch in games. Because of logistical problems with the United Valley/West Shamokin game being played at Blacklick Valley, we’ll instead bring you Marion Center at Cambria Heights. Both teams are looking for win number one. Stingers coach Adam Rising is confident his team will be ready.
The Highlanders’ Jarrod Lewis says his team has a lot of room to improve.
On Cat Country 106.3 FM, Purchase Line hosts River Valley. Both teams won their week one games.
Panthers coach Jess Houser hopes to wear down the Red Dragons.
Houser likes the way his running backs worked last week, even when they didn’t carry the ball.
Purchase Line coach Matt Falisec is concerned with the River Valley run game.
Falisec says he’s preaching hydration to his team.
The other Heritage Conference games, in addition to 1-0 West Shamokin playing 1-0 United Valley at Blacklick Valley, feature 0-1 Conemaugh Township at 1-0 Portage and 0-1 Conemaugh Valley at 0-1 Northern Cambria.
Coverage begins tonight with the Indiana Total Therapy pregame shows at 6:30 on all four stations with the exception of the Homer-Center/Penns Manor game. That pregame begins at 6:15.
