The Steelers continue to search for help at cornerback, yesterday signing veteran Anthony Brown to the practice squad. Brown is coming off a torn Achilles tendon and has not been with a team yet this season. He played eight years for the Cowboys.
The Steelers also are adding former All-Pro Desmond King, who most recently was with the Texans.
Eight players who were released on Tuesday have been signed to the practice squad. They are defensive linemen Breiden Fehoko and Jonathan Marshall, cornerback Luq Barcoo, safety Trenton Thompson, linebacker David Perales, running back Greg Bell, wide receiver Dez Fitzpatrick, and tight end Rodney Williams. They still have seven openings on the practice squad.
Coach Mike Tomlin says settling on a 53-man roster is never easy, and especially this year.
Tomlin says everybody on the roster needs to be a contributor if the Steelers are to reach their goals.
The Steelers practiced yesterday and then the players scattered for a four-day mandatory league-wide break. They’ll be back to work on Monday.
